Are you questioning The Leader?

Jim Geraghty

So, just to clarify, the thinking of the White House is that the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan is a complicated, thorny, multifaceted question that is fundamental to matters of life and death for many Americans, so the president cannot be rushed into this decision and has to take his time to carefully and deliberately weigh all of his options.

While at the same time, the health-care bill has to be passed by Thanksgiving.

Guantanamo Failure

President Obama's executive order to close Guantanamo Bay has failed, 3 months before the deadline. And in true leadership fashion, Obama is throwing someone under the bus. Greg Craig was tasked with closing the prison. They claim it was Craig's idea to close it in one year. Why did he think it could be closed in a year? Republicans and Bush told his so. For his failure, Craig is looking to become a federal judge or move into a diplomatic position. Oh, the shame that would rain on this administration if we had a free press. Washington Post.

White House Regroups on Guantanamo

Even the headline is gentle. In a just world it would convey the heart of the story.

Obama Fails to Close Gitmo.

Low Inflation

Terrific! Inflation is low because I'm not getting a raise! That's a win-win! Yahoo

-----------
Factories are still operating well below capacity, one force that should keep a lid on inflation. Other factors keeping prices in check include the weak job market enabling employers to avoid wage increases, and cautious shoppers making companies wary of raising costs.

You don't get something for nothing

If everyone who needs a car or is thinking of buying a car buys a car at a discount in July and August, how many people will buy cars in September? Basics. HA

-----------
As predicted, the “hangover” is upon us. Here’s the glorious result of dangling $3 billion in free taxpayer money in front of car-buyers: Two months of artificially stimulated demand which spurred manufacturers to ramp up production, leaving dealers now with showrooms full of new cars — and no customers to buy them. At the moment, no one’s even sure if overall sales will be higher for the year. Genius.

President Present

I heard Rush Limbaugh say that President Obama is voting "present" on whether to increase troops in Afghanistan after the request from his top general. That's why you don't elect a senator to president. See Charles Krauthammer. below. via. HA

Bliss

Ahhh.... the peaceful bliss of summer, 2001. Some random murder in CT leading the news for 5 days. Passionate debate about domestic issues. Big Al Qaeda plot disrupted in NYC and Denver... (Ooops. Strike that.) Our enemies are half a world away. We're perfectly safe, again, just like summer 2001.

"But [VP Joe Biden] did explain the logic of doing so, saying Iran — a key concern for the United States — was not a threat"
---------

P.S. Even CNN had to inform it's readers that Iran is "a key concern for the United States". Frightening.

Racism is a Distraction

It's clearly not about race. But the left wants to distract from the real subject - ObamacCare. They throw race in there to divert the conversation and put ObamaCare opponents on defense. It's not about race. It's about higher taxes. It's about poorer health care - higher costs, longer waits, rationing. It's about bigger deficits that will lead to higher inflation. Opponents of ObamaCare need to ignore the accusations of racism just like the president is ignoring them.

-----------
Mr. Obama’s response to all this [racism discussion], aides say, has been to tell his staff not to be distracted by the charges and to focus on health care and the rest of his policy agenda.
